BitSquare, the decentralized bitcoin exchange has been making some good progress with its bitcoin wallet. The company released the beta preview of its upcoming Bitcoin wallet. The version 0.4.0 is currently available on GitHub. For starters, the latest version is not compatible with the versions released before 0.3.6. So those who have been running the previous versions of the wallet will have to uninstall them before installing the recent release.

The latest BitSquare beta wallet is available for Windows, Mac OS, and Linux operating systems. In the newest release, the company has included support for funding multiple offers and trades, so that the user can differentiate between different trades in order to ensure better privacy. The application will also include a screen to deposit funds and locked funds. In addition, the exchange rates will be always readily accessible.

BitSquare, on the other hand, has also increased trade limits. The bank transfers have been raised to 0.5 BTC whereas, though other payment processors, it has been jumped to 0.75 BTC. However, if users on the beta version of the wallet intend to pay with altcoin or use OKPay, they will find the limit increased to 1 BTC. Other changes include reduced trade transaction fees, withdrawal fee and changes in the user interface for better usability.

BitSquare is extending the decentralization aspect of bitcoin to the exchange level. Unlike other bitcoin exchanges, which are centralized transaction platforms for swapping bitcoin with fiat or other cryptocurrencies, BitSquare keeps the whole process decentralized. None of the funds being exchanged will be stored by the platform. At the same time, the platform also promises additional privacy by allowing only the trading partners to exchange personally identifying data.

The recently launched preview will be the next iteration of the current BitSquare platform which is still in its alpha release stage. Being a completely open source and volunteer driven project, BitSquare has been calling for volunteer developers and contributors for a while now, those interested in volunteering as a developer with BitSquare can find more details about it on their website. Similarly, those interested in making monetary contributions to the project can do so by sending bitcoin to the wallet address mentioned on their contribution page.

The progress in the platform’s development can be readily noticed by comparing different release notes. The next release of its beta version 0.4.1 is scheduled for 27th of this month. Once the new version is out we will be able to find the list of upgrades over the latest release.
