A Congregation of Brilliant Minds: Inside Bitcoins San Diego
Drop everything and prepare yourself. Inside Bitcoins is upon us, not in a month, not in
a week, but right now from December 14 until the 16th at the San Diego Convention
Center, 111 W Harbor Drive. Let’s take a good look at just a few of the key persons of
influence. We’ve got Paul Puey, CEO and Co-Founder of Airbitz along with another
notable member of the Airbitz team, Will Pangman. Airbitz is a Bitcoin mobile wallet
company striving to make Bitcoin more accessible and secure for both consumers and
businesses. You can catch Will Pangman speaking on the first day from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m.
about E-Commerce and Bitcoin. However, you’re going to want to go early enough to see
the Head of Research for Brave New Coin, Tone Vays, explain Bitcoin trading and
analysis. It’ll be a good primer for Tone’s 3 more sessions the following day. Don’t miss
them.
Day 2 starts off with CEO and Founder of GoCoin.com, Steve Beauregard, at 9:00 a.m.
followed by two panels. I can’t spoil the whole day for you, but do names such as
Jonathan Chester, Eric Lombrozo, Tatiana Moroz, Dimitry “Rassah” Murashchik, and
Ed Eykholt ring any bells? If not, it’s time you familiarize yourself with them, not to
mention a number of other gems I’ve left out.
Here’s the part that gets real fun, entrepreneurs are going to be put to the test,
competing for $2500, pitching to some of the savviest businessmen in the Bitcoin space,
and only with a grand total of 5 minutes each! This is your chance to see many of the
high-performance individuals in this space executing under pressure. Or, maybe you
have what it takes to compete, then buckle up and email ibstartup@mecklermedia.com.
This begs the question though, who are some of the savviest businessmen in the Bitcoin
space?
Inside Bitcoins has a reputation for attracting the real shakers and movers in this space
and they did not hold back for this event. He’s the Chairman of BitAngels, Partner of
AngelList Bitcoin Syndicate, and CEO of Transform Group, his business track record is
tremendous, and he’s one of the judges for the startup competition — Michael Terpin.
Terpin is also a co-founder and co-manager of bCommerce Labs, an incubator for
Crypto startups, working alongside the most underrated entrepreneur in this space —
Jim Blasko, creator of Voxels for the Voxelus virtual reality platform, CTO of the
upcoming CryptoMarket.co, and creator of UnbreakableCoin. Catch Terpin at 4:00 p.m.
on the 2nd day sharing his insight into the pros and cons of Bitcoin investing and catch
Blasko at 9:30 a.m. on the 2nd day as well, discussing leadership and the necessary traits
for Crypto startups.
I haven’t even covered half of the events going on at Inside Bitcoins San Diego, but
there’s one more event that is important to mention. This is one of the keynote events
and it’s called, “You Don’t Need to Trust Wallstreet — You Only Need to Trust
Mathematics.” It’s presented by the CEO of Overstock.com, the first major retailer to
accept Bitcoin, Patrick M. Byrne. This great man has taken Overstock.com, in 1999,
from $1.8 million in revenues to $1.5 billion by 2014. Let me guess, Harvard MBA?
Nope, Byrne has a PhD in philosophy from Stanford! Byrne utilizes his success in for-
profit ventures, to better impact charitable causes. In an interview, Byrne shared one of
his most fundamental insights into the developing world — that being, “the two great
pillars of progress are education and capital markets.” (Citation) If this guy’s bio doesn’t
capture your attention then I don’t know what else could. In other words, this is the typeof person that makes it into history books, the kind of person that will tackle the hardest
problems, the kind of person each and every one of us could take a page out from his
book so-to-speak — Patrick M. Byrne is why you should go to Inside Bitcoins in San
Diego. Register Now
